SMAC group research interests

  • Study of reaction mechanisms by using DFT, mass spectrometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and FT-IR spectroscopy.

Research topics:

  • intercalation mechanisms in HOPG crystals
  • diffusion mechanisms and surface and interface interactions in inorganic materials and hybrid architectures for technological applications
  • surface reactivity of organic and inorganic surfaces in the biomedical field
  • Theoretical and experimental studies about the interactions between energetic particles and matter.

Research topics:

  • Innovative ion bombardment experiments with single atoms and clusters of bismuth and cesium.
  • Multivariate statistical analysis applied to mass spectra and chemical maps 2D and 3D coming from ion bombardment experiments (PCA, PLS, cluster analysis, machine learning etc)
  • Degradation mechanisms of metallic materials in the cultural heritage field.
  • Synthesis of inorganic materials for application in the biomedical and cultural heritage field
